Redundant / Abundant

I said that nothing matters, a cliché existential cry. Yeah, I might not have a backbone, but I've got a fucked up spine. And you want to know why my visage is not defined? What's familiar is no longer comfortable. No solace is found amidst this redundancy. And I have to be on my back for you to even approach me. All is grey, as fresh as your recycled choice of words. I am worn from this low conversation. We all stand on this wasted foundation. So don't ask me about what I've done tonight. Eyes downward. Walking upright. I should just crawl home. That would be much more sincere.

Here you are amassed, once again, just to make an appearance. This routine has become lifeblood, a soundtrack to your incoherence. Thanks for tuning in. Be sure to come back next week. We will all be here, I'm sure. We will never leave. This frequency will never be sold. One day you'll find out, all along, that we've been lying. You'll grieve when we're gone, but you'll move on. So for now, here's a little number for you with bass... and drums... and guitars. Oh no, don't cry. This is what you really wanted, right? We did all of this for you, or at least that's what we want you to think, so you keep crawling back. Don't get attached.

Grey Matter

Roots will petrify. Decay without air. Concrete cannot speak. Stone cannot preserve. There is no profit to be made from building wastelands. You simply live as prophets spreading your message of the mundane. You dine with killers. You give to thieves. But who really has anything to gain when icons have no permanence? Are we so far past the point of no return? Whitewash. Grey matter. Breaking bread with you is breaking my spirit. So bend my will, and bury it deep beneath your new world.
